With reports this week suggesting that an increasing number of sellers are now opting to move more of their inventory from eBay to Amazon, this week's blog will focus on how to sell successfully on Amazon. In previous blog posts, we detailed how you can set up a seller account on Amazon and how you can source products to sell. This week, we are going to look at how to sell successfully on Amazon and ways to boost your Amazon sales and profits. Seller Tip 1: Improve your Amazon SEO Think of Amazon as a search engine and you’ll have a better idea of how to strategically approach selling online. Familarise yourself with the ins and outs of Amazon’s search engine algorithm, and you’ll be in a better position to get your search terms, keywords and copywriting in order. We here at SellerExpress won’t be so brazen as to say it’s easy to get a customer, but it sure is simpler than having customers come back and back. Repeat customers are worth their weight in gold, and yet too many merchants don’t do what they can to retain them. However, it’s not the realm of geniuses to get more repeat customers and we’ll show you how in 7 easy steps to keep your customers coming back. Step 1: Treat Them Well Unless you’re in the business of selling products that are literally not available anywhere else (i.e. a monopoly on something), then you must at least acknowledge that service plays a large role in e-commerce. Your buyers can get their socks, jumpers, laptop chargers and pet cages from Bob, Susan or anyone else in the world. So, to set yourself apart, you’ve absolutely got to treat your buyers better than everyone else. According to McKinsey & Company, customer service counts for more than 70% of the shopping experience. Step 2: Keep Emotions Positive Shopping is not an emotion-free experience, and there are certain points [...]

Last week, we expanded our selling platforms by setting up a seller account on Amazon. Now the account is set up, we need products to sell.  This week, we are going to look at the best approach to sourcing products to sell on Amazon, eBay or even eventually our own webstore. 1. Do your research Do lots of research ahead of time; learn what consumers have been interested in and what they’re currently interested in. Find out what the hot sellers are and use the information to extrapolate for the future. It may seem like a basic, self-evident step, but you’d be surprised at how many merchants ignore it. Tools such as Terapeak can help you discover new selling opportunities and see the hottest product makes, models, and listings. The software also lets you set revenue and margin goals and helps you build optimised listings. Irish footballer Roy Keane, once said, "Fail to prepare, prepare to fail!". While we may not agree with everything Roy says, this is certainly one we would advise to follow when starting up in ecommerce. 2. Get by with a little [...]

There are two kinds of online sellers in this world: those who sell within their nation’s or continent’s geographical boundaries, and those who don’t. If you’re thinking of exploring cross-border selling, then SellerExpress has just the guide for you. While wrapping your head around the process will involve learning new things, you’ll be sticking with essentially the same concepts you’ve been using all this time. Acquaint Yourself with Payment Methods in Other Countries Your first thought may be something along the lines of, ‘The entire world uses credit cards, so isn’t that good enough?’ Well, not exactly. Pitney Bowes wrote an interesting article that looked at the breakdown in payment methods in various countries, and the way the numbers stack up is a little surprising. Spain: In La Furia Roja, the dominant way of paying online is to use either Visa, MasterCard or American Express. When it comes to online shopping, just about every single person uses one of these three cards. Germany: The economically strongest country in the EU has just over a quarter of online shoppers (30%) using one of the big three [...]

Linking my eBay sellers account to my chosen inventory management software, SellerExpress, can be done in six easy steps and this blog article will guide you through each of them. Step 1: Initial setup I have signed up for a demo account and completed the initial set-up.
