Amazon to step up UK tests of delivery drones: James Titcomb at The Telegraph reports that Amazon will step up its drone tests in the UK, after the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) granted them special permission to test its aerial vehicles. The agreement will see Amazon move a step close to Jeff Bezos’s dream of fleets of drones delivering small packages directly to shoppers within 30 minutes. Will Amazon deliver on earnings tonight? Jay Somaney at Forbes reports Wall Street analysts are expecting Amazon to report earnings of $1.11 per share on revenues of $29.55 billion, up from $0.19 per share and $23.2 billion in the same quarter last year. The company has been on a massive expansion, with new fulfillment centers, investments in the Indian market and rapid build out of its fleet of vehicles, planes and drones for delivery. Sainsbury’s to rival Amazon Fresh with new same day food delivery service: Emma Munbodh from The Mirror reports that Sainsbury’s has started trialing a same day delivery service in three stores, in an attempt to rival Amazon Pantry. Under the trial, those who place an order online before 12pm will have their shopping delivered from 6pm on the same day or will be able to pick it up from 4pm from click-and-collect points. Amazon launches Prime service in India to woo customers: Sonam Joshi at Mashable reports that Amazon has launched its Amazon Prime membership programme in India, its fastest growing market. Prime members will get unlimited free one-day and two-day delivery in over 100 cities and early access to lightning deals and exclusive offers.
