Amazon delivery drone wins FAA approval for testing in rural Washington: Reuters via The Guardian reports that Amazon.com has won US regulators’ (FAA) approval to being testing its delivery drone service in America. However, the ecommerce giant must fly below 400ft in ‘visual meterological conditions’ and will need to obtain new certification if it modifies drone design. Continue reading…

Rakuten closes Play & cancels 7.8 million listings: Chris Dawson at Tamebay reports on the closure of Play.com this week. Buyers are now being diverted to the Rakuten.co.uk site, where sellers will now list. Rakuten.co.uk currently has 1,105,412 listings compared to the near nine million listings it had previously on Play.com. Continue reading…

Ecommerce companies face EU antitrust probe: Loek Essers at PCWorld reveals that The European Commission plans a competition inquiry into cross-border trading by companies such as Amazon.com.
