Amazon is toying with the idea of using its own shopping channel as a way to increase sales of its goods. Walmart applies for permission to test delivery drones: BBC News reports this week that Walmart (which owns Asda) has applied to start testing delivery drones in the US. Walmart follows in the steps of Amazon, which has already started testing drones for deliveries. Walmart has applied to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to see if it can begin flight testing drones for home delivery, pick-up and warehouse tasks. Continue reading…
Amazon may launch its own line of clothing: Nick Statt at The Verge reports that Amazon may soon be adding clothing to its product range, according to a report from BuzzFeed. At the WWD Apparel and Retail CEO Summit this week, Amazon Fashion’s vice president of clothing Jeff Yurcisin, said the company is considering producing its own clothing lines to to fill “gaps” in the marketplace. “For Amazon, we know our customers love brands, many of the brands in this room. After the surprise of Black Friday 2014, retailers are going to have spent months planning for 2015, for everything from the promotions themselves to the logistical nightmare of getting everything shipped.
